- MERJ is an acronym for Madison, Estill,
Rockcastle and Jackson counties. MERJ Market at the Pilot Knob Nursery
is a sustainable community center for activities, networking, and
exchange of goods and skills, and thus provides a basic foundation for
modeling sustainability on a broad but local level.
-
- We believe the name “MERJ Market”
appropriately reflects and encompasses not only the area of outreach
that it serves in the “merging” of the four counties, but also the broad
range of services and activities that result from the “merging” and
serving of various community needs at the Pilot Knob location.
-
- MERJ Market is a
blossoming sustainable community center, ecological farm, local natural
produce market, not for profit natural foods store, bulk food buying club,
and meeting place for friends located in Big Hill, Kentucky where Madison,
Estill, Rockcastle, and Jackson counties all meet.
-
- Open 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, we are located on US 421 1/2
mile north of HWY 21. You'll see signs, greenhouses, garden beds and
fields.
-
- "Clean and Green" LOCAL produce, sustainable economies, permaculture,
